This weekend join us in Brevard, North Carolina for the thirteenth annual White Squirrel Festival! This two-day festival celebrates the rare white squirrel that lives in Transylvania County, and has even been voted the best spring music festival in Western North Carolina! On Saturday morning team up with friends and family to participate in the White Squirrel 5K and 10K fun run, followed by a Memorial Day Parade! The results of the white squirrel photo contest will also be on display.
Brevard’s favorite white squirrel, Pisgah Pete, will also be in attendance, disproving all those that dare the claim the white squirrel does not exist! Pisgah Pete was rescued and has been loved by locals ever since! Author Judy Pierce will be accompanying Pisgah Pete and will be signing books at various times throughout the festival!
Just a few of the vendors to look forward to this year are American Life Jewelry, Dave Allen Photography, Heartfelt Flowers, Old Time Chimes, and Whisker Biscuit Dog Treats! This year the festival will also have multiple food options to satisfy any palate! Grab a burger from the Oskar Blues Chub Wagon or a taco from the Taco Truck! Then grab some dessert from Anna’s Sweet Treats! These are just a few of the options that will be available at the festival this year because there will also be arts and crafts booths and an abundant amount of activities for children!
The festival is also hosting a wide array of musical talent from all across the country! A large stage will be placed in the middle of Downtown Brevard where festival-goers can listen to Aaron Burdett, Clint Roberts, Davidson River Taiko, Levee Daze, Shannon Whitworth, and the Shadowboxers! These are just six of the sixteen artists that are to be performing! The best part about the concerts at the White Squirrel Festival? THEY ARE FREE!
