There are plenty of reasons to move to Hendersonville: excellent schools, convenient amenities, and beautiful scenery to name a few. However, if you’re an outdoor lover and can’t wait to get your hands dirty, you’ll be delighted to know that Hendersonville has some of the best parks in Henderson County. For warm days, you can take your family out for a picnic or let your dog run around and make friends. If you’re looking for some quiet, peaceful moments, a lot of the parks offer breathtaking views and little nooks you can sit down at and read a book.

Hendersonville NC Parks

Jackson Park

Jackson Park is the largest county-owned park in western North Carolina. This 212 acre park was established in 1974 and is conveniently located near the downtown Hendersonville area. The park provides access to basketball courts, softball fields, tennis courts, and soccer fields. There is a children’s playground, a dog walking park, and four picnic shelters available.

Residents of Hendersonville enjoy visiting Jackson Park and having the opportunity to walk along the nature trails, take part in bird watching, go hiking, fishing, or ride along the bicycle trails. Jackson Park is an asset to the Hendersonville community, and the perfect place to observe North Carolina’s wildlife in their natural habitat. Free parking is available, and the park is handicap accessible.

East Flat Rock Park

East Flat Rock Park is located nearby Hendersonville and has many great amenities for local families to enjoy. This park has access to a large picnic shelter, a gazebo, barbecue grills, a playground area, ball playing fields, basketball court, and a walking trail.

Etowah Park

Etowah Park was established on September 7th, 1995 when the 18 acre space of land was turned over to Hendersonville County Parks and Recreation by the Etowah Lions Club. Today along with keeping up the maintenance of the park, the Etowah Lion’s Club operates the park’s concession stand where all profits are returned back to the recreational area. Etowah Park is located behind Etowah Elementary School.

The park’s facilities include several picnic tables, a shelter, a children’s playground area, a walking trail, tennis courts, soccer field, baseball fields and a shuffleboard court. There are plans to add on a Frisbee golf course in the near future.

Westfeldt Park

Westfeldt Park is a 15 acre section of land that provides visitors with access to boating on the French Broad River. Along with the many water-related activities this park has to offer, Westfeldt features a picnic area and several wooded hiking trails were guests can observe North Carolina’s native plants and wildlife. There is also an open recreational area located inside the park.

Edneyville Park

Edneyville Park is located directly behind the Edneyville Volunteer Fire Department and is around ten miles away from downtown Hendersonville. This smaller four-acre park is a fun place to visit with the kids, have a picnic, or play ball. The facility has two tennis courts, a basketball court, and a children’s playground. A picnic area is available along with public restrooms.
